Aloe Blacc, is the new recently talented singer who both wrote and provided vocals for the famous 2013 EDM song “Wake Me Up.”

Despite the song’s support and popularity, the only artist credited on the song is EDM producer, Avicii.

In a Huffington Post Live interview, Aloe Blacc clued us in on why his name is absent from the platinum hit song.

“I came in with the lyrics and I just developed a melody, and we all thought it was something very strong,”

he recounted.

“We finished the song that night as the acoustic version, then Avicii made the dance mix in a couple of days, and that’s what we released to the world, and that was his release.”

Blacc admitted that it’s “not advisable” to forego receiving song credit, and that “everyone deserves” it for their respective contributions. Blacc said he is happy with how the song’s been received by the masses.

“The song matters more than I do, and that’s evident by how many people love the song,” he said. “At the end of the day, when I’m dead and gone, the song will still live on. It doesn’t matter — I’m just lucky enough to be able to be the person to bring it into the world.”
