Pringy Releases “Horizon” House Song [EXCLUSIVE]

Liverpool (UK) based producer Paul Pring was introduced to music production at the age of 14. Over the years his style of production has come to encompass a number of influences such as Trance, House, Electro House and Progressive House.

The 27 year old was introduced to Electronic Music by the Trance music of the late 90’s early 00’s and has always had an affinity for melodic sequences, big plucky synths and punchy drops. Artists who have played a huge part in his love for Electronic Music include Paul Van Dyk, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Eric Prydz, Axwell and Swedish House Mafia.

House music has gone through an evolution during its decades-long rise to the mainstream of EDM and beyond.

The latest release from Liverpool-based producer Paul Pring—known affectionately to his fans as PRINGY—brings a fresh sound that stays real to what brought house to the forefront in the first place: kicking bass and soulful samples. “Horizon” is his most recent future house brainchild and this one hits all the right feels.

“Horizon” starts with a bare 4-on-the-floor kick drum while PRINGY throws in some pitched-down vocals (à la DJ Screw) and a synth that moves upward with every bar. Now, I’m already nodding at this point—but then the drop touches down. PRINGY’s punchy bass hits me right in the chest and his synths take over.

The syncopated piano and hi-hats lay down the foundation of the house groove. PRINGY’s chord choices are absolutely beautiful and the looping “flute-y” melody ties a nice bow on top of this dance-inducing package.“Horizon” is uplifting and full of that feel-good, positive energy. The right music can reflect and even dictate emotions to the listener. After listening to “Horizon”, this reviewer is walking away with an ear-wide smile. Keep your eyes and ears on PRINGY, folks, he’s building house for the future.

I had a chance to sit down and interview Pringy about his new track “Horizon”, check it out here below exclusively on EDM RANKS only.

Pringy Interview:

Tell us about “Horizon”. How did you come up with this idea for this song?

Although I love a big hitting track, I am a sucker for melodies and a lot of the Future House stuff I have heard recently has really impressed me, through hearing various tracks and songs, the idea sparked to go for something piano-based with some nice plucky synths to enhance the overall emotion of the music.

What Inspired you to make this?

Without trying to sound too clichè, the past year has been tough dealing with various personal and family issues, on top of this I had fallen away from producing.  I am the type to wear my heart on my sleeve but I find it much easier to express myself through music, and music is something that has always played a huge role in my life so I have decided to start dedicating more time to producing, “Horizon”, “Dusk” and “Big” mark the beginning of this.

How did you begin producing electronic dance music?

This question made me giggle at the memory, it was back in 2003,  I had always been into Dance, Trance & House but I had never entertained the thought of making music on a computer until my Mum bought a PC magazine which had a CD with eJay on it.  If any of you ever remember eJay, it was just a program full of pre-made samples that you would put together and turn into a full track, that marked the beginning of it, I then started learning about DAWs etc., and by 2005/06 I was using FL Studio.  Thanks Mum!

Do you have a favorite VST plugin or instrument to use?

I like to experiment and don’t stick to a particular plugin but if I had to name a some, my favourites are probably Hybrid 3, mda ePiano and xfer OTT Multiband Compressor.

What can we expect from you this year?

In all honesty, I’m just taking it as it comes.  I do feel like I have a better focus than I did previously, my aim is just to keep getting better and hopefully my music can do the talking one day. I know I have my weaknesses when it comes to production, I’ve never hidden this, but I have great people around me and maybe with the right effort it might lead to opportunities in the future, who knows?
