Remco is an electronic dance music producer and DJ from the Netherlands.

Remco has released his new song “Delusion” and it is something very special. It’s not your typical 4 to the floor EDM house song, so dont prepare to dance for this song. This song, is more about chilling and mediation.

Remco’s new song “Delusion” is out now, and has also recently been featured by deadmau5 on his his label Mau5trap playlist on Zambah.

Remco – “Delsusion”

Delusion is a melodic chill EDM song that will will slowly set in on you.

Delusion will set your mind at ease and put you into a focused state of trance. You will feel at peace with yourself and one with the universe. The mellow chill melodic tones and frequencies slowly build up into a nice down tempo style drum pattern and soon blends in with some super trippy 1920’s sounding vocals of a man talking about inventing speakers and adds a whole new depth and touch to the song that seems to subconsciously send you messages as your mind is in a state of trance.

EDM RANKS was fascinated by this amazing song, we caught up with Remco for an exclusive interview with him about how he produced “Delusion”, his inspiration and more. Check it out below.

Remco Interview:

Tell us about “Delusion”. How did you come up with this idea for this song?

I am a big fan of dynamics in music. It has to breath instead of being a wall of very loud sound. So I started playing with the difference between the warm but somewhat dirty kick and drums, and the emotional and very clear top melodies. I was really interested in the contrast between the two. I wanted it to sound like all the individual sounds had there own space in the track but were at same time supporting each other. In the middle part of the track you can hear a man who is explaining a stereo set. I added this to give the listener a little time to breath so to speak, and make them think about what they are listening to but at the same time you aren’t really getting it. You experience a story but you are not quite sure what it is about. That’s why I called it ‘Delusion’. It recently got picked by deadmau5 his label Mau5trap for a playlist on the website Zambah containing upcoming talent! So that is something I am really proud of!

What Inspired you to make this?

I was, and still am, a big fan of Donald Glover (Childish Gambino). A couple of months ago I saw that he had a new TV series coming out called ‘Atlanta’. I started watching it and I was immediately captured by the style and feeling it had. Very laid back and relaxing while it still had that suburb vibe to it. The music was also spot on and I got inspired right away. I wanted to make something with the feeling and style of the show and that is how I not only made ‘Delusion’ but also ‘Lemon Pepper Wet’ which you can listen to on my Soundcloud.

How did you begin producing electronic dance music?

I started making music about 6 years ago. At first I was just making what the tutorials on YouTube were teaching me. But after some practice and failure I started to create my own style. I never wanted to make music which sounds like you’ve heard it a million times before, I wanted and still want to make music which takes you on a journey and tells you a story while you’re being captured by the unusual layout and sound of the overal track. I got accepted at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht and while studying there I was getting very interested in Ambient music by artists such as Brian Eno, Boards of Canada and Jon Hopkins. I started playing with that kind of story telling and came up with a mix of ambient sounds and almost Downtempo/Indie sounding drums.

Do you have a favorite VST plugin or instrument to use?

I am a huge fan of Synplant. It is easy to use and it creates very organic en original sounds. You don’t have the complexity of the Korg MS-20 which I also use quite often. I also love recording sounds myself and manipulating them. In ‘Delusion’ I used the sound of my cat for one of the top melodies. This way you make a sound which is unique and not possible to reproduce exactly.

What can we expect from you next year?

At the moment I am working on my first album. Music wise I am at 90% now but for the overall style of the album with the album art, promotional stuff and possibly some videos I am working with one of my best friends Tom Sibma. All this work takes a lot of time but we really want to make a solid and quality project that we can both be proud of! So make sure to keep an eye on my Facebook page for updates on the album!
